At City Green we know that everyone has the right to healthy local food. And City Green’s youth-run farm stands in Paterson, Passaic and Clifton mean that more people have access to bountiful and affordable farm-fresh produce.
Because we believe in “Healthy Food For All” we sell our veggies (grown using organic and sustainable farming techniques with no chemical pesticides or fertilizers) at the City Green Farm Stands and Veggie Mobile, accepting and doubling the value of all federal food benefits including SNAP, WIC and Senior Farmers Market checks. We call this our “Eat Better Tonight” Double Value Coupon Program. (Of course we take cash too!)
Eat Better Tonight means just that… when you shop at the City Green Farm Stand and you spend $1 in SNAP, WIC or Senior Checks, you get $1 in City Green Bucks! (up to $10 a day) This ensures that everyone who visits our farm stands and veggie mobile can afford our organically-grown, fresh produce. City Green’s operates farm stands and markets in Paterson, Clifton and Passaic, from June through November.
The Farm Stand at City Green Farm Eco-Center, located at 171 Grove St. in Clifton NJ, 07013 will open every Friday this Summer starting June 12th, 2015. Hours of operation are 10:30am -2:30pm.

The Changing Face of Food Security In 2011 City Green became the first organization in New Jersey to implement a Double Value Coupon Program in partnership with The Wholesome Wave Foundation. For every dollar of federal benefits (WIC, SNAP, FMNP) that a shopper spends at the City Green Farm Stand, the DVCP provides a matching “City Green Buck” to spend, at the City Green Farm Stands and Markets, on local fruits and vegetables. Our DVCP, “Eat Better Tonight”, incentivizes the consumptions of fresh, local fruits and vegetables by nutritionally at-risk populations by doubling the amount of produce the customer can purchase.
Since its inception, Eat Better Tonight has served over 4500 Federal Benefit customers who have spent over $17,000 in “City Green Buck” Incentive Dollars on farm-fresh, healthy produce.
Eat Better Tonight! Workshops are the City Green’s Farm Stand’s educational and community outreach component. Each Eat Better Tonight! Workshops offer participants a holistic approach to increase what we call their “Local Food and Veggie Literacy”. Eat Better Tonight Workshops cover food justice and “healthy food deserts”, the environmental, economic and nutritional benefits of eating local and answer the question that everyone wants to know… “what to do with all of those farm-fresh veggies ?” with a cooking demonstration and food tasting.
Eat Better Tonight Workshops have been delivered to over 1100 participants and are conducted at the City Green Farm Stands, community health fairs and with local community organizations in Paterson, Clifton and Passaic.
