About
Since 2010, City Green has organized the Greenest Place in Paterson Garden Contest - an amazing initiative that celebrates and rewards the dedication and effort that Patersonians are investing into greening and beautifying the City!
How it works: Home gardeners in Paterson complete an application (online or paper) and submit optional photos. City Green will contact you to schedule a visit to your garden for judging. All gardeners are invited to the Awards Ceremony in September, where winners will be announced and prizes will be given.
Deadline to apply: Wednesday, July 10

Prizes
The grand-prize winner of the Paterson Garden Contest will receive awards and prizes valued at $250. Winners in each category will also receive gifts and prizes.
Judging Criteria
When judging a garden, we’re paying attention to:

general appeal and neatness
-
natural or formal layout
-
use of color
-
plant material
-
variety and quality of plants, and
-
sustainable features and methods used to create the garden
Eligibility
The contest is only for Paterson residents who are amateur gardeners. Businesses and other groups may submit an entry in our “Storefront, Organization, or Business District Garden” category.
